When the media runs a story on a particular topic, it often seems like the media is more sensitive to news stories that fall into the same category. For instance, when the media runs stories about a plane crash, there seems to be many more plane crashes than usual. I would like to see a study on whether or not some of these categorical media blitzes are due to chance, actual statistical highs in the categories, or a form of media bias.
