Sunday, September 02, 2007   Philanthropy as a beginning and a means, not just an end.

For ages power and influence has been built using financial principles and methods of accounting, business, and marketing. When combined in the right fashion these disciplines develop a synergy that can create and build wealth. Traditionally this wealth creation has been directed to individual wealth building and creating a legacy for one's family. While this goal is not necessarily wrong, I believe it is short sighted.

These same principles can be applied to the non-profit arena and Christian organizations, an area that is in great need of financial assistance, to form great results. The non-profit Christian organizational need for finance assistance is so great and the tools currently lacking so, that even a small injection of simple financial principles can have outputs that are magnified many time over their input.

The tool of financial wisdom can also be used for social benefit on a personal level. Working directly with people and communities in need business and economic principles can become a stepping stone into an economically sustainable future for many struggling families.

The "good" that wealth can be used for can be found as a beginning and a means instead of an end. It is possible to give first instead of giving back at the end of one's life.

This is my belief. This is my call.
